Jumpstart: Online visibility for small business owners

by | Feb 3, 2026

When you’re a small business owner, your to-do list is often pages long. Getting through it seems almost impossible, so working on something regularly, like online visibility, that doesn’t bring in instant cash, can feel like a luxury you just don’t have the time for. So, is online visibility and SEO a must-have, or is it just nice to work on it when you’ve got some spare time?

The answer is a resounding, it’s a must-have.

Think about how you search online for the answer to a problem you have, whether that’s what to wear for a wedding or how to get your toddler to sleep for more than two hours at a time. You’ll type the words into Google that you need help with. So, “women’s wedding outfits that don’t cost the earth” for the former and “why won’t my toddler sleep?” for the latter.

If you’re a toddler sleep expert, if your website doesn’t include those words, or variations of them, the sleep-deprived parent Googling at 3 am will land on your competitor’s website, find the resource they think will help and buy it.

They don’t have the time or patience to scroll through pages of search results. A tired parent needs answers quickly. So, they’re unlikely to scroll past the top couple of search results, whether that’s AI Overviews or web pages.

How to make your website stand out

If you want your website to stand out and capture Google and AI’s attention, it needs to include specific elements.

The most important aspect of SEO is keywords. If you don’t have the words people type into search engines when they have a problem you can solve, your website won’t be seen by those people. So, having the right words in the best places is vital.

Then, you need to have a website that’s easy to navigate, keeps people’s interest, is accessible and full of rich content that showcases your experience, expertise, authority and trustworthiness.

Creating solid foundations that include all of these elements can feel daunting if you don’t know anything about SEO. And then you need to add in other elements of online visibility using other platforms to show the world you’re brilliant at what you do.

That’s why I created Jumpstart.

The best way to learn online visibility and SEO

I’m the queen of straightforward and simple advice and support. I love seeing the lightbulb moments when it clicks for clients, and they feel empowered to take action. This is what they’ve had to say about some of my services:

“SEO Jumpstart was brilliant. Suzy is very clear at explaining all the technical aspects of SEO and breaking it all down into manageable chunks.

“She’s so patient and happy to answer any questions at all, and I felt completely comfortable to ask if I didn’t know how to do something.

“Since implementing the changes, I’ve already started to notice a difference in the number of views and visitors my website has.

“The brilliant thing is that Suzy leaves you with an actionable plan to make sure you’re consistent with reviewing and updating your SEO, making sure it becomes a regular part of your business management, not just something that sits at the bottom of your to-do list. “

Frances, Spiral Blue

“I took the Website Visibility Foundation Course created by Suzy, and it was fantastic. I love how Suzy made keywords and SEO so easy to understand rather than using the business terminology that makes no sense. Suzy was fab throughout the course, so friendly and very helpful, I love working with her. I highly recommend doing this course!”

Gabby Morris, Virtual Gabby VA

“Working with Suzy to better understand SEO and how I can optimise it on my website was so informative and valuable. Suzy was very easy to chat and share information about my business with, and took this to give me clear guidance and direction. I feel that I got some valuable and actionable clarity on what to do going forward to make some simple but impactful changes. I’m looking forward to implementing what we agreed and watching the results! I would most definitely work with Suzy more as my business grows.”

Nicola Farndell, Life Now Coaching

“I have always found SEO confusing – until I attended Suzy Stanton’s Masterclass.

“She started by breaking down the four main pillars of SEO, then explored each one in detail. What made it so effective was her clear, jargon-free explanation. Everything was delivered in a way that finally made sense to me.

“Suzy then walked us through a practical, four-month strategy that felt achievable rather than overwhelming.

“I left the session with a clear understanding of what I need to focus on, how to approach it, and where to go for further support. It was an hour incredibly well spent – thank you, Suzy!”

Kelly, Kemend Proofreading Services

“Suzy’s SEO Training was fantastic! It has helped me with client websites and ranking them higher. I’ve even managed to add SEO to my services. The course is chatty, friendly, and easy to understand, and it is the best way to enter SEO. Suzy is so lovely and supportive, too. I highly recommend it.”

FAQs

What is online visibility for small businesses?

Online visibility is how easily people can find your business when they use a search engine or AI to look for help, services or answers. It includes your website, SEO, content, collaborations, PR, Podcasts and social media working together so your ideal clients can discover you naturally.

Is online visibility important for small businesses?

Yes, online visibility is essential. If people can’t find you when they’re actively searching for solutions you offer, they’ll land on your competitor’s website instead. Visibility builds awareness, trust and enquiries over time, even when you’re not actively marketing.

Can I rely on social media alone for online visibility?

No. Social media is useful, but relying on it alone is risky. Accounts can be restricted, hacked or lose reach overnight. A strong visibility strategy includes SEO, website content and other platforms you own, giving you consistent traffic and control.

How does SEO help with online visibility?

SEO helps your website appear in search results when people look for specific problems you solve. It ensures the right keywords, structure and content are in place so search engines understand what you do and show your site to the right audience.

Is SEO difficult for beginners?

SEO isn’t difficult when it’s explained clearly. Beginners can work on SEO by focusing on keywords, helpful content, clear website structure and simple improvements, which is exactly what Jumpstart shows you how to do. You don’t need technical skills, just a practical, step-by-step approach.

What’s the best way to learn SEO and online visibility as a small business owner?

The best way is through structured, beginner-friendly training that fits around real life. Programmes like Jumpstart teach SEO and online visibility in manageable steps, helping business owners build sustainable visibility without overwhelm.
