Case study: SEO Audit

The Client

WELLmind Hypnotherapy is run by Emma, a clinical hypnotherapist supporting people to overcome challenges such as trauma, stress and phobias.

The problem

Emma was new to the world of business and had recently launched her business and website. She knew the words she wanted to be found for, but didn’t know anything else about SEO and how to make sure her website was attracting Google’s attention and being shown to her dream clients.

She bought a Mini SEO Audit, which included a 1-2-1 session with me after the audit and action plan were completed, so we could go through everything and she could ask me about the areas she was unsure about. Emma lives locally to me, so we did the session in person.

The solution

The audit started with me doing keyword research based on Emma’s business and the terms she wanted to rank highest for, as well as competitor analysis to see how her site compared to others in her field. I then did a full review of her recently published site, analysing what was working well, what wasn’t and the areas that needed to be improved to ensure she started to show up higher in search results pages.

I created a step-by-step action plan, working through each area, explaining what needed to be changed and how to make the changes.

The action plan covered:

  1. Keywords – current and new, and where they should go
  2. Areas working well
  3. Areas that need improvement
  4. Recommendations included page names, image and page descriptions, the need for more copy on certain pages and what that should contain, adding a blog section, and ways to improve the site’s authority off-page.

Emma was very new to business and found the 1-2-1 session particularly useful to go through where to find things in the backend of her website and how to add things like alt text and page descriptions.

The outcome

Emma is now confident about what steps she needs to take to make sure her website has all the key components in the best places so it attracts Google’s attention.

She’s spending dedicated, small chunks of time working through the action plan to make the changes I recommended. She’s added a blog section so she can showcase her experience, expertise, authority and trusworthiness not only to potential new clients, but to Google too.

The work is starting to pay off with new clients starting to find her through organic Google searches.
