Acronyms are great, as long as you know what they mean. Have you ever talked to someone who’s used them and you’ve spent the whole conversation thinking, “I have no clue what that means?”

SEO is a bit like that.

In the online world, it’s an acronym that’s used a lot. But what does it actually mean?

What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. In a nutshell, it means making sure your website looks its best so it attracts the attention of search engines, who are impressed by what they see and show your site to your dream clients. You can have a beautifully designed website full of brilliant products and services. But if it doesn’t contain the words people type into Google when they’re looking for a solution to their problem, no one will know it’s there.

If you’ve got a website as part of your business, it’s a waste of resources for it not to be visible and show up on the first page of Google results. Because, let’s face it, no one looks on page two of Google.

SEO and website visibility are about:

At the top of most search pages now, you’ll see the AI-generated response to your query. For some searches, people won’t click beyond that because they’ve found the answer they’re looking for, which has led to a reduction in the number of clicks through to websites.

But one thing AI can never replace is the human touch. And that’s what gets people to click through to a website.
